Begonia Baladin

Purchase

Scientific Name: Begonia elatior

Popular Name: Begonia Baladin

Size: Reaches about 20 to 30 cm.

Life Cycle: If well taken care of, its life cycle can be perennial.

Flowers: Flowers in various colors, yellow, white, red, orange, simple or folded with varying sizes. Formed all year.

Lighting: It prefers well-lit places, however, sheltered from the wind and direct sun. Normally cultivated in pots under the protection of structures, or in the garden in massifs in half shade.

Watering: The soil must be kept moist, watering 1 times a day in hot climates or when necessary, but do not let it soak and avoid watering the flowers. Prefer water at room temperature, not too cold. Do not leave water accumulated in the dish, this can cause the roots to rot.

Substrate: The soil must be permeable, with good drainage and rich in organic matter.

Fertilization: NPK 10-10-10, which must be applied in dry seasons.

Pruning: Only prune if necessary. The vase must be kept clean by removing the dry and withered leaves.

Propagation or Replanting Method: Its multiplication is only possible through the division of the plant. The ideal time to get good seedlings is at the end of winter, when temperatures are between 16 and 18ºC, but without the danger of frost. Remove the seedlings at a young age, as soon as they have three leaves and replant them in a pot or garden at a distance of 15 to 20 cm from each other.
